ABOUT EYEHUB

John B. Rush, O.D., is the Founder and President of Eyehub.  Dr. Rush is very active in the optometric profession and in his community. He served on the Oregon Optometric Association Board of Directors from 1974-1980, was President of the association in 1978, and served as a Trustee on the Board of Directors of the American Optometric Association for 5 years. He has given over a hundred speeches nationally on continuing education in optometry. He has had a private practice in Gold Beach and Brookings for over 30 years. He served on the board of trustees of Pacific University (Forest Grove, Oregon). He is a member of Rotary International and has been instrumental in the development of a "Eye Mission" project to Ecuador over a period of 5 years. He served a 5 year term as Port Commissioner of the Port of Gold Beach in 1980. His wife Hazel is a photographer and artist. Together they have 6 children and 5 grandchildren.

Q: What do I need a website for?

A: Every doctor knows that simply providing a practice isn't enough. You have to have the patients to fill it. Effective marketing helps to fill your practice and retain current patients. In addition, a website can give a prospective new patient an idea of the types of services you provide, as well as a doctor's background and the directions to get to your office. Q: I really don't know anything about websites; what do I have to do and is this going to take a lot of time?

A: Eyehub.com is tailored to suit your needs. You don't have to learn any web design. We have a special template system that allows you to make easy updates to your site without knowing any special coding; it's as simple as typing a letter. In fact, you don't even have to do anything at all; you can leave the updating to us.

Q: I know a little HTML but I don't want to do the whole site on my own. Can I customize the look of the template site a bit?

A: We have two dynamic website formats. Both can be modified by you with little or no knowledge about website code. The EXPRESS websites are basic designs. The layout of all of the EyeHub Express websites is modifiable. A broad assortment of colors and designs are available. The designs can be individualized to each office. Text and pictures can be inserted to show patients many of the important features of your office and your practice. In the PREMIER websites their is nearly an unlimited array of designs that are possible. All of the tabs are customizable. All of the pictures and text is customizable. Banners and tile images can be individually developed as slide shows. You have all of the ability through an extensive library of videos to see how to make all of the modifications in your Premier website yourself. You do not need to know any HTML computer code. All you need to know is how to type standard text and take digital pictures. The Premier Websites are truly premier in every sense.

Q: I know web design or I have a relative/friend who I want to do my site. Can we make our own and add your features (the Online Shopping, EyeCyclopedia, etc)?

A: Absolutely! Just let us know who's doing the webmastering and we'll set that person up with full publishing privileges.

Q: I already have a site on another hosting system; can I just pay you to have the Online Shopping?

A: Unfortunately, no. We have to have your site on our servers in order for the Online Shopping to work correctly. If you have a hosting commitment, we can always plan for a transfer when your commitment is done.

Q: What do I need Online Shopping for?

A: Two words; patient retention. How much business do you lose to companies like 1800 Contacts? Wouldn't you prefer to have your own online shopping, with prices that you control? Patients order from online discounters for two reasons; convenience and price. If your website is available 24-7 for them to order their contacts, and you have the ability to adjust your prices whenever you like, you've just won an advantage. Online discounters aren't doctors; patients will be far more secure about ordering contacts from their own doctor. In addition, if you have Online Shopping that means you don't have to carry quite so much inventory. Some doctors have reported carrying less product in the office because their patients utilize the Online Shopping.

Q: How does your Online Shopping work?

A: The products are all pre-loaded; all you do is log in to your admin and change the prices to whatever you want your prices to be. We provide you with a "Order Tracking System" that follows your patients orders all along the way. When your website is set up you specifiy at that time which distributor you want to supply your patients with contact lenses. When a patient goes to your website and places an order, the order goes directly to the distributor you've chosen for processing. If it's something requiring a prescription such as contact lenses, the order is then posted to the order management area of your website admin, and will wait for your verification and approval. Once your office approves the order, your selected distributor will process the customer's payment and ship the product via the method specified by the patient. All of your purchases are summarized monthly for your recordkeeping and payments are applied to your account. If you choose to deny the order, simply cancel the order and you are free to contact the patient to tell them why you are not completing their order. It is an opportunity for you to bring the patient back into the office.

Q: Is it expensive?
